The current Fiber install requires the tech to install fiber directly to the AT&T Gateway. I had an AT&T fiber installer come to the house and tell me that he cannot use the CAT 5 cables that are on the exterior of the house. Does this sound correct? If so, what type of box would I need to distribute service to each bedroom? He also said that he could use the existing Ethernet port in the room where the modem will be to then run service back into the command center room and I would have to purchase some type of box that would distribute service to each room through the CAT 5 cables located in the command center room. He would have to place the modem in a bedroom where he runs the fiber line into the house. He said he would need to drill into the house and run a fiber line in and he could not place the modem in the command center room. There is a command center room underneath my staircase where all CAT 5 cables run to and I was told by the builder that the modem would go here. Hello, I recently purchased a new construction home that has CAT 5 cables wired to every room for TV streaming hook ups and to the exterior side of the house for the internet provider to hook up to.
